SYMPTOMS

On a Microsoft Windows 2000-based computer, when you try to access a remote file by using the Server Message Block (SMB) protocol, the session may stop responding. For example, this problem may occur if you use a program that uses named pipes, where periodically, the program may stop responding, and you may receive the following error message:

Named pipe server is not available.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because of a deadlock issue in the SMB redirector.
