SYMPTOMS

The Exchange 2000 Server information store quits unexpectedly, and you cannot start the service manually. When you view the Application event log, you see that the following event has been logged: Event ID: 7031
Source: Service Control Manager
Description: The Microsoft Exchange Information Store service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this <n> time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 1 milliseconds: No Action.


RESOLUTION

Cumulative Rollup Information

To resolve this problem, obtain the September 2003 Exchange 2000 Server Post-Service Pack 3 (SP3) Rollup. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

Important You must manually stop the Exchange services before you install this hotfix. This hotfix is not effective until you restart your computer. Make sure that you restart your computer after you apply this hotfix.
