SYMPTOMS
When you delete a task request message from the Sent Items folder in Microsoft Outlook 2002, the corresponding task item may also be removed from the Tasks folder in Outlook.
You do not expect a task item to be removed when you delete the task request message from the Sent Items folder.
CAUSE
This problem occurs if you delete the task request message for a task that you assigned to a recipient whose mailbox is hosted on another mailbox store.
Note This problem does not occur if the task recipient's mailbox is located on the same mailbox store as the sender's mailbox.
RESOLUTION
A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server service pack that contains this hotfix.
