SYMPTOMS

After you apply the hotfix that is described in the Microsoft Knowledge Base article 329170, when you print from a Microsoft Office XP program, the printed output may not print as expected. The characters may print at the wrong font size, gridlines may print in the wrong locations, and other printed output problems.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because your computer runs Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 2 (SP2) and the printer server runs Windows 2000 Service Pack 3 (SP3).

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Windows 2000 service pack that contains this hotfix.

To work around this issue, remove the hotfix that you installed from article 329170:

  1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Add or Remove Programs.
  3. Click Windows 2000 Hotfix (SP2) Q329170, and then click Remove.
  4. Click Next.
