APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server 2001 Service Pack 1
  • Microsoft Office 2000 Standard Edition

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel documents, you can create fields that are linked to custom document properties. When you enter information in the fields, the custom document properties are automatically updated. You can put these documents in the SharePoint Portal Server document library. You can also create a custom document profile that uses the same field names as those that are in the custom document properties. However, when you check out a file, change the file, and then check the file in by using your custom document profile, if the fields that are in the custom document properties are empty, the fields are removed .

NoteThis problem only occurs in Microsoft Office 2000. This problem does not occur in Microsoft Office XP.
