SYMPTOMS
When you visit a Web page that is using XML code with an .xsl transform to generate the HTML rendered in Internet Explorer, Internet Explorer may quit or stop responding (crash). This may occur when you browse away from the particular Web page and return to the original page that was using the .xsl transform.
CAUSE
This issue has been known to occur when the .xsl file is changing the window.name property for the Web page. This issue does not occur under the same scenario with Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 Service Pack 2 (SP2).
RESOLUTION
A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next service pack that contains this hotfix.

If you installed this fix before you installed the February, 2003 Cumulative Patch for Internet Explorer, you must reinstall this fix.

STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. If this fix is installed, the Microsoft Security Update MS03-004 may overwrite this fix. If the MS03-004 fix is installed, this hotfix must be reapplied after the MS03-004 security update.
