Last reviewed: September 9, 1996
Article ID: Q71924

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Office for the Macintosh, version 1.0, 1.5, 2.5, 3.0

SUMMARY

The error message "Disk I/O Error" may occur when using Find A Topic from The Microsoft Office stack.

The Microsoft Office installs applications on the hard drive, but the resources for the search routine remain on the CD. Therefore, when the Office CD is not in the drive, the error message will be displayed.

MORE INFORMATION

The Microsoft Office contains online manuals for the quick retrieval of documentation for the applications that are packaged with Office.

The online manuals have a search feature that is accessible from the central Office menu screen. The search engine used by Find A Document remains on the CD along with various other resources. Clicking the menu button of the product to search will bring up the product's menu screen. From this menu screen, the Find A Topic button will invoke the search screen. Once inside the search screen, you can type a query in the Find box.
