SUMMARY

When running Microsoft Basic Professional Development System (PDS) versions 7.00 and 7.10 or QuickC version 2.50 in an MS-DOS box under Windows 3.00, doing an ALT+ESC to switch to windows may cause the cursor in the MS-DOS box to disappear.

This information applies to the QBX.EXE environment of Microsoft Basic PDS versions 7.00 and 7.10 for MS-DOS, and to the QC.EXE environment for Microsoft QuickC version 2.50 for MS-DOS.

MORE INFORMATION

To reproduce this problem, do the following:

  1. Start Microsoft Windows 3.00 and open an MS-DOS box.
  2. Run QBX.EXE or QC.EXE and then immediately exit back to MS-DOS.
  3. Press ALT+ESC to switch back to Windows.
  4. Go back into the MS-DOS box. The cursor is now gone.

Once the cursor is gone, typing MODE CO80 at the MS-DOS prompt causes the cursor to reappear.
