Summary:

The following are steps for exporting an encapsulated PostScript (EPS) file from Computer Support Corporation (CSC) Arts and Letters graphics editor version 3.01. Although likely similar, these steps may vary for earlier versions of Arts and Letters.

To export an EPS file from Arts and Letters, do the following:

Select the symbols to be included in the exported file, or select no symbols to export the entire drawing.
From the File menu, choose the Export command.
In the Export Files dialog box, enter a name for the file in the Filename field, and choose the “Encapsulated Postscript (.EPS)” export format option. Arts and Letters subsequently adds an .EPS file extension that matches the extension expected by Microsoft Word.
In the lower right corner of the Export Files dialog box, choose the Setup command.
In the EPS Export subdialog box that appears, select Standard EPS as the file format.
Select TIFF as the embedded Screen Image format.
Select the desired resolution option for the TIFF display image selected in the previous step. Resolution options of up to 400 dots per inch (dpi) are available, and Microsoft Word will support each of these.

Note: Word doesn’t support TIFF images greater than 1 MB. If an EPS file contains an embedded TIFF screen image larger than 1 MB, the error message “Error. Cannot read or display file.” will be displayed.
