Summary:
Numerical values in Lotus 1-2-3 spreadsheets convert incorrectly when inserted into Microsoft Word for Windows.
The following steps illustrate this problem:
In a Lotus 1-2-3 spreadsheet, enter the following numbers in a cell:
12 23 3254 234 345 34 67 84
Save the file to disk.
From Word, insert or open the Lotus 1-2-3 file created above.
The numbers (which should appear as integers) appear as follows:
29855-30-32 29855-30-32 29855-30-32 29855-30-32 29855-30-32 29855-30-32 29855-30-32 29855-30-32
More Information:
The Lotus 1-2-3 file above converts correctly when imported into Microsoft Excel and saved as a WKS or Excel file. A possible workaround is to first read the file into Excel and then copy/paste or open the Excel file into Word for Windows.
Note: This problem does not occur in later versions of Word for Windows.
