Summary:
The text string inside COMMAND.COM was changed to report “4.01” instead of “4.00”. This modification in MS-DOS was necessary to accommodate the version number change of MS-DOS from version 4.00 to 4.01.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Version 4.00. This problem was corrected in Version 4.01.
