SYMPTOMS

When you click a Microsoft ActiveX control immediately after you click another ActiveX control on a worksheet, Excel may quit.

CAUSE

This behavior may occur if the LostFocus event of an ActiveX ComboBox control starts another subprocedure that contains the Sheet.Activate command, and then you click another ActiveX control instead of a cell on the worksheet.

RESOLUTION

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, do not click two ActiveX ComboBox controls consecutively. Before you click the second control, first click a cell on a worksheet.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Office XP Service Pack 3.
