SYMPTOMS
When you try to save a new contact or when you try to print the contents of an e-mail message in the Preview pane of Outlook, you may receive the following error message, where Drive
is the drive on which Outlook is installed:
You do not experience this symptom if you first open the e-mail message, and then print it.
CAUSE
This behavior may occur if your installation of Outlook is damaged.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this behavior, remove, and then reinstall Outlook. The following steps describe how to remove and reinstall Outlook when it is installed as a part of Microsoft Office 2000. For more information about how to remove a stand-alone version of Outlook, see the "More Information" section later in this article.
NOTE: Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps.
- Remove Outlook:
- Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
- Click Add or Remove Programs.
- In the list of Currently installed programs, click Microsoft Office 2000, and then click Change.
- In the Microsoft Office 2000 Maintenance Mode dialog box, click Add or Remove Features, and then click Next.
- Click the down arrow next to Microsoft Outlook for Windows, and then click Not Available.
- Click Update Now.
- Click OK when you receive the message that Setup completed successfully.
- Reinstall Outlook:
- Press and hold down the SHIFT key while you insert the Microsoft Office 2000 CD-ROM into your CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive.
- Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
- Click Add or Remove Programs.
- In the list of currently installed programs, click Microsoft Office 2000, and then click Change.
- In the Microsoft Office 2000 Maintenance Mode dialog box, click Add or Remove Features, and then click Next.
- Click the down arrow next to Microsoft Outlook for Windows, and then click Run from My Computer.
- Click Update Now.
- Click OK when you receive the message that Setup completed successfully.
