SYMPTOMS
Under stress, some Active Server Pages (ASP) pages in a program that is running on a Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS)-based server may stop responding (hang). The behavior occurs during a MAPI logon. When the pages stop responding, you cannot restart IIS by using the Services tool in Control Panel.
CAUSE
This problem occurs because the MAPI logon threads enter a deadlock situation.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Exchange 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Exchange 2000. This problem was first corrected in Exchange 2000 Service Pack 3.
