SYMPTOMS
When Internet Explorer is redirected from one zone to a second zone, the credential policy for the first zone are applied to the second zone site.
Example
If a redirect occurs from an Internet site to an intranet site and the intranet site requires authentication, the Internet zone policy is applied, and you are prompted for your user name and password.
CAUSE
This is caused by a code defect during the redirect code where the Credentials Policy is not re-evaluated based on the new site.
RESOLUTION
A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next service pack that contains this hotfix.
