Disk Space Warning Message Occurs When You Upgrade From Small Business Server 4.5 to Small Business Server 2000

SYMPTOMS

When you upgrade from Small Business Server (SBS) 4.5 to SBS 2000 Service Pack 1 (SP1), you may receive the following error message:

Setup has detected that your component selections will exceed the available disk space on the following drive.

- Drive X: has nnnnMB free and the selected components require nnnnMB. Click OK to proceed or Cancel to remain on this page.

If you click either OK or Cancel, the Component Selection screen appears. Installation continues, but one or more components may not be installed.

RESOLUTION

Follow these steps to continue SBS 2000 SP1 Setup:

  1. When you receive the error message that is described in the "Symptoms" section, click OK. Windows 2000 Server and some of the components continue to be installed.
  2. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
  3. Restart the server when you are prompted.For additional information about how to free enough disk space to allow the installation to continue, click the article number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

  4. Restart SBS 2000 SP1 Setup.
