SYMPTOMS

When you press the CTRL + Y key combination to repeat an action in Microsoft Word 2002, the change is not applied to the selected line of text if the last change is a font change or a font size change.

CAUSE

Microsoft is researching this problem and will post more information in this article when the information becomes available.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Microsoft Office XP service pack that contains this hotfix.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, you can use the Format Painter feature or you can manually reformat the text.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Office XP Service Pack 2 (SP-2).
