SYMPTOMS

If a logged-on user is a member of a global group, Statview.exe may stop working intermittently with an "Error Code = 1112017020" message. After this occurs, the logged-on user no longer has rights in the SMS Administrator console. This problem is more likely to occur on sites with many status messages if Statview.exe is being run from a computer with low system resources.

You may receive any of the following error messages.

SMS Status Message Viewer:

There are currently no persistent queries in the database

SMS Status Message Viewer:

The Status Viewer was unable to fetch the possible properties from the data base

SMS Status Message Viewer:

Error Code = 1112017920, Error Text = SMS_StatusMessage

The Smsprov.log file contains the following line when the problem occurs:

E:\opalsp2\sdk_provider\nt\SMSProv\SspObjectQuery.cpp(1627) : User "Domain\test" does not have permission to read SMS_StatusMessage objects.

How to Install the Hotfix

Apply this fix to all the primary sites in the SMS hierarchy. To install the fix, use one of the following methods.

How to Use the Hotfix Installer

NOTE: You can use this method only on Intel-based computers.

  1. Copy the hotfix folder structure to a local folder on your site server or to a share on your network. The I386 and Alpha subfolders are required; you must also download them from the Microsoft FTP site. It is important to keep the folder structure intact. The Q327210.exe file is a Microsoft Windows Installer file that updates specific files on your site server.
  2. Log on to your site server by using an account with administrator permissions.
  3. On the site server, quit the SMS Administrator console.
  4. Run the Q327210.exe file and the follow the instructions in the wizard. The Systems Management Server services are stopped and restarted as part of the installation process.

How to Manually Install the Hotfix

  1. Copy the update program file (Q327210.exe) and platform folders to a new folder. The folder structure must be arranged so that the program file is located one folder "above" the platform folders.
  2. Quit the SMS Administrator console and stop all SMS services in Control Panel. Also stop the Windows Management or Windows Management Instrumentation service. If the SMS_SITE_BACKUP service is running, stop it also.
  3. Replace the Statview.exe file in the Sms_root_folder\Bin\Platform folder with the version from the hotfix.
  4. Restart all the SMS services, and restart the Windows Management or Windows Management Instrumentation service.
