ERROR SIGNATURE
This article describes a problem where Microsoft Outlook unexpectedly quits (crashes) with the following error signature:
App Name App Version Module Name Module Version Offset -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Outlook.exe <appversion> Nakrnl32.dll <modver> 0000681e
where appversion is a number equal to or greater than 8.2.1.4106, and where modver is a number equal to or greater than 4.5.276.0. Additionally, other offsets are possible.
SYMPTOMS
When you use Microsoft Outlook 2002, or when you use any of the products listed at the beginning of this article on a computer with Microsoft Windows XP installed, you may receive the following error message:
When you view the data in the error report, the report contains an error signature similar to the error listed at the beginning of this article.
Additionally, when you use a version of Microsoft Outlook other than Outlook 2002 on a computer that does not have Windows XP installed, other errors may occur. If your customer experiences an alternate error not covered in the existing text of this article, please comment this article with the exact error message and provide a supporting case number.
CAUSE
The problem you encountered may be caused by a Microsoft Exchange add-in named the McAfee Virus Scan Alert Manager.
NOTE: The McAfee Virus Scan Alert Manager is manufactured by Network Associates, Inc.
WORKAROUND
Contact Network Associates, Inc. to obtain assistance with removing Alert Manager add-in from Microsoft Outlook, or to inquire about updates for the McAfee Virus Scan Alert Manager that may resolve this issue.
