SYMPTOMS
The following warning message is logged in the application event log:
CAUSE
The warning means that although Index Server had a filter to index the host document (typically a Microsoft Office document), it did not have a filter to index an object that was embedded in the host document. The host document was successfully filtered, but the embedded object was not.
This frequently occurs with images such as graphic files or OLE objects that are embedded in Office documents, but it can occur with any embedded file type for which Index Server does not have a filter.
RESOLUTION
WARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.
To prevent these warnings from filling the event log, follow these steps to disable the ContentIndex EventLogFlags registry key:
- At a command prompt, open Regedit.
- Locate the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\ContentIndex\EventLogFlags
- Change the value of EventLogFlags from 2 to 0.
- Restart your computer for the changes to take effect.
STATUS
This behavior is by design.
