Session Summary



In this session, we will discuss how to automate the VC++ IDE using add-ins (VB and VC++) and macros (VBScript). The presentation will primarily cover the following topics:

  • VC++ Object Model
  • How to create add-ins and macros
  • Ways to invoke add-ins, macros, and existing VC++ IDE commands
  • Add-ins versus macros
  • Examples of day-to-day tasks that can be accomplished using VC++ automation



This is a Level 100 session that was recorded August 1, 2000 and presented by Ranga Narasimhan. Ranga Narasimhan joined Microsoft as a Developer support professional in May 1998. Since then he has been actively involved in supporting VC++ IDE in addition to Automation and Platform SDK tools. Ranga has both a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in Computer Science.
