Session Summary

In this session, we will introduce the newest troubleshooting tool available to consumers and to support professionals for identifying and solving networking-related problems. Included in this session will be a discussion of the Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) provider and the HTML scripting that makes this new tool possible.

This is a Level 100 session that was recorded August 4, 2000 and presented by Scott Vanstone and Olaf Miller.

Scott Vanstone is a Software Test Lead working in the Simple Networking Test Group. Scott has been working in the networking field since 1991. His past experiences include hardware, software, and networking support, and fault diagnosis. Scott's recent achievements include overseeing the testing and implementation of new core networking technologies delivered into Windows Millennium Edition including the Windows 2000 TCP/IP stack port and network driver parity. He is very excited about the Network Diagnostics tool in Windows Me, and how it will assist both consumers and support organizations.

Olaf Miller is a Software Design Engineer working in the Network Diagnostics and Network Monitor team. Olaf has been working in the networking field since 1999. Olaf designed and implemented the core functionality for the Network Diagnostics tool in Windows Me, and is excited about how this tool can help users and administrators diagnose their system.
