XADM: Event ID 181 Repeatedly Appears in the Application Event Log of the Event Viewer

SYMPTOMS

You may notice the following recurring event in the application event log of the Windows NT Event Viewer:

Event ID: 181
Source: MSExchangeDSEXP

Description: Could not bind to the Microsoft Exchange Directory server ServerName. You do not have the permissions required to complete the operation.

NOTE: This event may be logged in approximately 30-second intervals.

CAUSE

This behavior may occur if the Computer Associates (CA) Unicenter TNG program is installed on the Exchange Server computer.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, contact Computer Associates to obtain an update for the Unicenter TNG Exchange Server agent.
