SYMPTOMS
When you install Windows XP Home Edition, or Windows XP Professional Edition, the U.S. Robotics 56K Winmodem that is installed on your computer disconnects 30 minutes after it is connected.
CAUSE
This issue occurs because the U.S. Robotics 56K WinModem that is installed on your computer is not compatible with Microsoft Windows XP, and it is not on the Microsoft Hardware Compatibility List.
RESOLUTION
Contact the manufacturer to determine whether there is a Microsoft Windows XP-compatible driver for your modem.
