SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Outlook 2000 and earlier, you can create custom views and filter items based on formulas, which makes the views dynamic.

In Outlook 2002, formulas are evaluated before they are persisted and the views are not dynamic.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Office XP. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

After you apply the fix, add the following registry key to activate the fix:

  1. Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
  2. Locate and then click the following key in the registry:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\Outlook\Options

  3. On the Edit menu, click Add Value, and then add the following registry value:

    Value name: Use2000Snapshot
    Data type: REG_DWORD
    Radix: Hexadecimal
    Value data: 1

  4. Quit Registry Editor.

Please note that if you use a negative number in the value for the formula, these formulas are not persisted but are evaluated and the results are persisted.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Office XP Service Pack 2 (SP-2).
