SYMPTOMS

When you are using the Network Associates McAfee VirusScan program, you may receive the following error message:

VsStat.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

If you view the data that the error report contains, you may receive the following error signature information:

   App Name    App Version  Module Name  Module Version  Offset
   -------------------------------------------------------------
   VsStat.exe  6.1.2000.0   unknown      0.0.0.0         unknown
                

CAUSE

This issue may occur because the Network Associates McAfee VirusScan version 6.1 program is not completely compatible with Windows XP.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, obtain and install the latest VirusScan update (as of April 2002, version 6.02 or later) from the following McAfee Web site:
