CAUSE

This issue may occur if one of the source containers that is specified on the From Windows tab of the specific Connection Agreement was renamed, deleted, or moved to another location in Active Directory.

For example, in the scenario that is described in the "Symptoms" section of this article, the name of the Connection Agreement is "TWO WAY CA." One of the source containers that is specified on the From Windows tab of this Connection Agreement is the "MYOU" organizational unit. After you create the Connection Agreement, if you delete that organizational unit, rename that organizational unit, or move that organizational unit to another location (for example, if you make it a sub-organizational unit under another organizational unit), and then you try to replicate the Connection Agreement, the error messages that are described in the "Symptoms" section of this article are logged.

Those error messages are in ascending chronological order. In other words, the event ID 8117 error message is logged first, followed by the event ID 8142 error message, and lastly by the event ID 8124 error message.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, make a note of the source containers that are specified in the event ID 8117 error message, and then make sure that the organizational unit that is mentioned in that error message was not renamed, deleted, or moved. Also make sure that the permissions for that organizational unit were not changed.
