SYMPTOMS
When you use the Browse button to add additional application mappings in Internet Services Manager, the OK button is disabled until you change the focus to the executable (.exe) file path text box. If you type the path to the .exe file directly, or if you change the focus to the text box after you browse for the .exe file, the OK button is enabled.
CAUSE
The Application Mappings dialog box sets the text box to a compacted path that includes ellipses for readability. Until the focus changes back to the text box, the compacted path is used, which makes the path invalid.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, either manually type the path to the .exe file, or select the path to the .exe file in the text box.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior
- In Internet Information Services (IIS), right-click Web Sites (or the individual Web site), and then click Properties.
- On the Home Directory tab, click Configuration.
- Click the Mappings tab, and then click Add in the Application Configuration dialog box.
- In the Add/Edit Application Extension Mapping dialog box, click Browse to select the .exe file or dynamic-link library (.dll) file from the local path on the Web server.
- In the Extension text box, type the path to the file. Note that the OK button remains disabled, and you cannot click OK to continue.
