SYMPTOMS
Outlook body-part handling strips carriage returns (CRs) from messages that are incoming from the AUTODIN Messaging System. As a result, the complete message is opened as a single line.
CAUSE
By default, the Outlook Rich Edit feature converts a CR_CR_LF sequence into a space. As a result, the formatting information for the lines is lost when Outlook opens these messages.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Office XP. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

The English version of this fix should have the following file attributes or later:

STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Office XP Service Pack 2 (SP-2).

To enable this fix, modify the following registry entry:
- Quit Outlook.
- Apply the fix in the "Resolution" section.
- Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
- Locate the following key in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\Outlook\Options\Mail
- On the Edit menu, click Add Value, and add the following information:
Value name: AutodinCR
Data type: REG_DWORD
Value: 0x0, 0x1
Default: 0x0 (not in registry by default) - Click OK, and then quit Registry Editor.
- Start Outlook.
