SYMPTOMS
Under certain situations, User Datagram Protocol (UDP) network packets may be discarded during a Remote Access Service (RAS) connection.
CAUSE
This problem occurs if a UDP packet is spit into two Internet protocol (IP) fragments and the second fragment arrives before the first because Windows NT-based computers may incorrectly discard the second IP fragment. When this occurs, the UDP packet is discarded.
RESOLUTION
A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem.
