ERROR SIGNATURE
This article addresses a problem that can have the following error signatures:

where xxxx.x
is a number later than 2605.0, and
where version
is later than or equal to 6.1.1008.1.
Additionally, other offsets are possible.
SYMPTOMS
When you start one of the Microsoft Outlook programs listed at the beginning of this article or open a message in Microsoft Outlook, you may receive the following error message:
When you view the data in the error report, the report contains an error signature similar to the error listed at the beginning of this article.
CAUSE
This problem can occur if the McAfee Hawkex add-in is installed on your computer.
The McAfee Hawkex add-in is made by Network Associates, Inc.
RESOLUTION
To try and resolve this problem, contact Network Associates, Inc. to see if updates exist for your McAfee Hawkex add-in software.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem in Outlook 2002, follow these steps to remove the McAfee Hawkex add-in from Outlook.
To remove the McAfee Hawkex add-in from Outlook 2002:
- Quit Outlook 2002.
- Click Start, and then click Run.
- In the Open box, type the following command line, and then click OK.
Outlook.exe /safe
- On the Tools menu, click Options.
- On the Other tab, click Advanced Options.
- In the Advanced Options dialog box, click Add-In Manager.
- Turn on (enable) all of the add-ins that you need, except for the McAfee Hawkex add-in, and then click OK.
- Click OK in the Advanced Options dialog box, and then click OK in the Options dialog box.
- Quit and restart Outlook 2002.
To remove the McAfee Hawkex add-in from earlier versions of Outlook, contact Network Associates, Inc. for help.
