WD2000: "Compile Error in Hidden Module" Error Message When You Start Word

SYMPTOMS

When you start Microsoft Word 2000, you may receive an error message that is similar to one of the following:

Compile error in hidden module: Autoexec

-or-


Compile error in hidden module: Autorun

CAUSE

This issue may occur under the following conditions:

  • Word 2000 is installed on the computer.
  • Goldmine is installed on the computer.
  • Symantec Norton Antivirus is installed and has been used to clear a virus called Bloodhound.

These error messages may occur because Symantec Antivirus removes components of the Goldmine program that also exist in Microsoft Word.

This is a known issue with Symantec Norton Antivirus software and Goldmine.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

  1. Visit the following Symantec Web site:
  2. When the Web page appears, type Goldmine, Microsoft Word, Bloodhound in the Search box, and then click Search.
  3. Select the following article: "Norton AntiVirus detects Bloodhound.import in Gmlink.dot." You may have to uninstall Goldmine, and then reinstall the software. For more information about this procedure, contact Goldmine customer support.
