SUMMARY
This service pack provides compatibility with new technologies, such as Microsoft Windows XP and Microsoft Office XP Service Pack 1, and contains updates that make it possible for the Office XP Developer tools to continue to function correctly when Microsoft Visual Studio .NET and Office XP Developer are installed on the same computer. In addition, you will find improvements in reliability of the Digital Dashboard design surface and the scalability of the Workflow Designer for SQL Server.
This article describes system requirements, how to download and install Office XP Developer Service Pack 1, and some of the known issues with this service pack.

How to Download and Install
IMPORTANT: To install this service pack, you must install Office XP Developer before you install Office XP Developer SP-1. You must also have access to the original Office XP Developer CDs or to the network from which you installed Office XP Developer.
NOTE: After you install this service pack, you cannot uninstall it.
To install the service pack, follow these steps:
- Use your Web browser to browse to the following Microsoft Web site:
- Choose to run the program from its current location or to save the package of compressed files to your computer.NOTE:
- If you choose to run this program from its current location by clicking Open, Setup is started automatically.
- If you choose to save this program to disk by clicking Save, after the download is completed, locate the MOD10ServicePack1enu.exe file where you saved it, and then double-click the file to start Setup.
- If you see a prompt to insert the "Microsoft Office XP Developer -
language" disk, make sure the original media is available, and then click Browse to select the location that you originally installed Microsoft Office XP Developer from. Click vs_setup.msi, click Open, and then click OK. - If you see a prompt to restart your computer, restart it to complete Setup.
Known Issues
- NT domain authentication does not work on computers running Windows XP Home Edition
When working with the Workflow Designer for SQL Server or the Workflow Manager for SQL Server on a computer that is running Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition, you will not be able to obtain NT domain authentication. To avoid this issue, do not use the Workflow Designer for SQL Server or the Workflow Manager for SQL Server on a computer that is running Windows XP Home Edition.
- Help is unable to locate or synchronize the Help files
Computers that are running Microsoft Windows 98 or Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition may display error messages when you open Help because they are not able to locate or synchronize the Help files after Office XP Developer Service Pack 1 has been installed. If you experience this error, restart your computer, and then reinstall the service pack.
