SYMPTOMS

When you start Windows, you may receive the following message:

Compression Agent

Compression Agent runs only on DriveSpace 3 compressed drives.

To compress your drive, or to upgrade it to DriveSpace 3 format,
you need to run DriveSpace 3.

CAUSE

This issue can occur if a shortcut in the Windows Startup group incorrectly loads the C:\Program Files\PLUS!\Cmpagent.exe file when Windows starts. Cmpagent.exe is the executable file for Microsoft Compression Agent.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, determine which shortcut or Startup group item starts Cmpagent.exe, and then remove it from the Startup group.
