SYMPTOMS
If you send more than one thousand messages from your offline folder (.ost) file and click Send and Receive All to connect to the server, Outlook 2002 may stop responding (crash).
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Office XP. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

It is imperative that you install the updates in the correct order.
For a Client only update, run the Outlook.msp, and then run the Olkintl.msp.
For an Administrative update, run the Outlook_Admin.msp, and then run the Olkintl_admin.msp.
After the hotfix is installed, the following files will have the listed attributes or later:
