SUMMARY
The Commerce Server 2000 product documentation has incorrect references to local Security Access Manager (SAM) accounts in respect to the authentication filter. The Commerce Server 2000 product documentation states that local SAM accounts can be used with Windows Authentication. For example, in the "Commerce Server Authentication Methods" section, it states the following:
Windows Authentication. AuthFilter uses Windows Authentication to control access to the site. It checks the user login and password against Active Directory (or a local Security Access Manager account). When you use Windows Authentication, you can require login access for only certain Active Server Pages (ASP) pages and directories that you specify. To use Windows Authentication, see Enabling Windows Authentication.
This is incorrect. Local SAM accounts do not function with Windows Authentication. Instead, users can be stored in SQL Server or in Active Directory.
