SYMPTOMS
You are prompted to disconnect from the Internet each time that you shut down Windows XP.
CAUSE
This problem may occur if your computer is configured to share your Internet connection with other users of your local network.
RESOLUTION
To correct this problem in Windows XP, follow these steps:
- Click Start, point to Connect To, and then click Show all connections.
- Right-click your Internet connection, and then click Properties.
- On the Advanced tab, click to clear the Allow other network users to control or disable the shared Internet connection check box.
- Click OK to close the Internet connection Properties dialog box.
Note When you turn off the Allow other network users to control or disable the shared Internet connection option, you do not limit access to the Internet by other users of your shared Internet connection.
