SYMPTOMS
After you upgrade an Exchange 2000 Server computer to Exchange 2000 Server Service Pack 1 (SP1), the Preserve sender's display name option in the global settings under Internet Message Formats may not work. If you clear the Preserve sender's display name option, the sender's display name is still exposed to the Internet receiver.
CAUSE
This problem can occur because of a regression in Exchange 2000 Server SP1.
RESOLUTION
A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem. This fix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server service pack that contains this hotfix.
