SYMPTOMS
When you are synchronizing long e-mail messages through ActiveSync to a Pocket PC Device, messages with Microsoft Word file attachments that contain embedded tables may not synchronize. When this occurs, ActiveSync may stop responding (hang), the message may be truncated, or an unresolved item may remain in ActiveSync. If you try to synchronize the attachment by using a file synchronization, ActiveSync may stop responding (hang), or an unresolved item may remain in ActiveSync.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue:
- In Windows Explorer, open the
drive letter
:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\TextConv folder, wheredrive letter
is the drive on which you installed Microsoft Office or Microsoft Outlook. - Press and hold the CTRL key down while you click the Msconv97.dll and Mswrd832.cnv files.
- Release CTRL, and then click Copy on the Edit menu.
- View and then click the Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync folder. Note that the ActiveSync folder may in a different location.
- On the Edit menu, click Paste, and then click Yes to All.
MORE INFORMATION
This is a known issue with the text converters that are included with ActiveSync versions 3.0, 3.1 and 3.5.
The ActiveSync folder must contain the Msconv97.dll and Mswrd832.cnv files with a date of 09-Nov-00 or later. You must have Microsoft Office 2000 or Microsoft Office XP installed on your computer. This is not an issue on a computer that was upgraded to Microsoft Windows XP, because Windows XP Setup notes the presence of the ActiveSync folder, and replaces the files with a current version.
