SUMMARY
The ODBC Microsoft Desktop Database Drivers Help documentation contains an error for the ODBC Microsoft Access Setup. The Page timeout in the "Options" section is incorrect.
MORE INFORMATION
According to Microsoft Knowledge Base article 246560:
"The Microsoft Access ODBC Driver that ships with MDAC 2.1 or later interprets the PageTimeout setting in milliseconds. The MDAC 2.0 versions of the Access ODBC Driver interpreted PageTimeout in seconds."
However, the Help documentation under "ODBC Microsoft Access Setup" states:
"The period of time, in tenths of a second, that an unused page remains in the buffer. For the Microsoft Access driver, the default value is 0.5 seconds and must be greater than 0. This option applies to all data sources that use the Microsoft Access driver."
To view the ODBC Help Documentation, follow these steps:
- On a Microsoft Windows NT-based computer, click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then click Data Sources (ODBC).
On a Microsoft Windows 2000-based computer, click Start, point to Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Data Sources (ODBC).
- On the System DSN tab, click Add. Click Microsoft Access Driver, and then click Finish.
- In the ODBC Microsoft Access Setup window, click Help.
In the "Options" section of the ODBC Microsoft Desktop Database Drivers Help documentation, notice that the Page timeout is in tenths of a second instead of milliseconds.
