SYMPTOMS

When you run the English versions of both Microsoft Access and your computer's operating system, you may receive Jet error messages in another language.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the local Jet error file is localized (translated into another language).

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, use one of the following methods.

Method 1

  1. Locate and rename the Msjint35.dll file as Msjint35.old. The file is most likely located in the following folder:

    Operating System Location
    --------------------------
    Windows 98/Me C:\Windows\System
    Windows NT/2000 C:\Winnt\System32

  2. Copy Msjint35.dll from the English version of the Microsoft Office 97 Professional CD-ROM to the correct folder on your computer. This file is located in the following folder on your Office 97 CD-ROM:

    OS\SYSTEM

Method 2

Install Microsoft Office 97 Service Release 2 (SR-2).
