SYMPTOMS

When you are running the Outlook E-mail Security Update on a computer that does not have the Cdo.dll file loaded, you may receive the following error message:

Error unregistering the OCX C:\Windows\system\CDO.DLL

CAUSE

This problem can occur if Outlook attempts to remove the Cdo.dll file from the Windows\System folder, but the file does not exist.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, click OK when you receive the error message in the "Symptoms" section of this article; if you do so, the Outlook E-mail Security Update continues to run and install successfully.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
