CAUSE
This behavior occurs because duplicate attributes exist in Active Directory.
WORKAROUND
To work around this behavior, search for duplicate attributes, and then remove one of them. For example, in event ID 8270, in the "Symptoms" section of this article, the following entry is a duplicate entry:
CN=cholden,CN=Users,DC=abc,DC=xyz,DC=com
If you do not find a duplicate entry in event ID 8270, search for the following attributes in Active Directory:
dn
legacyexchangedn
samaccountname
mailnickname
mail
proxyaddresses
textencodedoraddress

In Active Directory Users and Computer, use the ldp and ldifde commands to find duplicate attributes; Dump everything from the Organizational Unit (OU) to a text file by using the following ldifde command:
ldifde -s Name of DC -p subtree -d " OU=Distribution Groups,DC=abc,DC=xyz,DC=com" -f d:\ldifdeoutput.txt
