SYMPTOMS

When you use the FTP tool (Ftp.exe) on a Windows 2000-based computer you can type commands in either uppercase or lowercase letters; however, if you type the append command in uppercase letters, the command is interpreted as a put command (send file) and the destination file is overwritten when the file should be appended with the new file.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS
