SYMPTOMS

When you use the System Monitor tool in Windows 2000 to log data from a local or remote computer that is running Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 or Windows 2000, only the first instance of a process is listed in Chart view if multiple instances of the process are running. All of the data is captured in the log, but it is not displayed. It makes no difference if the instances are running at the start of logging or after logging has begun. Only the first instance that is started is displayed.

Another symptom of this problem may be that all instances of an application are displayed in System Monitor but they all show the same log data.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use a Windows NT 4.0-based computer to display the log.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Windows 2000 Service Pack 2.
