SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to install Microsoft Windows Media Player 7 or 7.1 on a Microsoft Windows XP IA64 platform, the installation fails at the end of the installation process. You do not receive any information in the error message, or if you click the Details button.


CAUSE

This issue is caused by Windows Media Player 7 and 7.1.


RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, install Windows Media Player version 8
