SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to insert a contact from your Schedule+ contact list by using the Address Book feature in Word 2002, you receive an error message similar to the following:

Word could not insert the address. One or more address fields are missing from the selected address book. Pick another address book or change your address layout and try again.

CAUSE

This problem can occur in the following situation:

  • You are using Microsoft Exchange with Microsoft Schedule+.

-and-

  • You have not upgraded from Microsoft Outlook 98 to Microsoft Outlook 2000 or Microsoft Outlook 2002 as your mail client.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use one of the following methods.

Method 1: Install Microsoft Outlook 2002

Microsoft Outlook 2002 uses your existing Schedule+ contacts to create an updated Outlook contact list that can be used in Word 2002. To install Outlook 2002, follow these steps:

  1. Double-click SETUP in the root folder of your Office XP compact disc.
  2. In Microsoft Office XP Setup, click Add or Remove Features, and then click Next.
  3. In the Features to install list, click Microsoft Outlook for Windows. On the shortcut menu, click Run from My Computer, and then click Update.

Method 2: Open Your Schedule+ File in Word

If you first open your Schedule+ file, you can then insert a contact from your Schedule+ Contact List. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. In Word, on the File menu, click Open.
  2. In the Files of type list, click Schedule+ Contacts(*.scd).
  3. Go to the folder containing your Schedule+ file(s), and then click the file that you want.
  4. Click Open.

NOTE: You do not see a file open in Word. You can now insert a contact from your Schedule+ contact list.

Method 3: Replace Schdmapi.dll with Schdmapi.dll from Office 97

If you have Office 97, you can use the Schdmapi.dll file that is included with Office 97. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Close all open programs.
  2. Insert your Microsoft Office 97 CD into your CD-ROM drive.
  3. In Windows Explorer, locate the following folder:

    CD-ROM drive:\Office

  4. Find and select Schdmapi.dll.
  5. On the Edit menu, click Copy.
  6. In Windows Explorer, go to the following folder for the U.S. English version of Office 2002:

    drive:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\1033

  7. On the Edit menu, click Paste to copy the Schdmapi.dll file to this folder.
  8. When you are prompted to replace the existing file, click Yes. You can now insert a contact from your Schedule+ contact list.
