How to Remove Branding from Internet Explorer

SYMPTOMS

After installing a version of Microsoft Internet Explorer by using the Microsoft Internet Explorer Administration Kit (IEAK), any combination of the following scenarios may occur:

  • You may not be able to remove the branding information from the Internet Explorer title bar.
  • The animated Internet Explorer logo may not be displayed in the title bar.
  • The default background for the Internet Explorer toolbars has been changed.

Removing and reinstalling Internet Explorer does not remove this branded information.



RESOLUTION

To remove all Internet Explorer branding, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start.
  2. Click Run.
  3. Type

    rundll32.exe iedkcs32.dll,Clear

    and then click OK.

  4. Restart Internet Explorer.

    You do not need to restart Windows for this change to take effect.
