SUMMARY

In Microsoft Word, the Mail Merge, Envelopes, and Labels features allow you to obtain information from certain types of Address Books. This article lists which Address Books can be used with these Word features.

The Mail Merge, Envelopes, and Labels features can use the following Address Books:

  • Microsoft Outlook 97 Contacts or Personal Address Book.
  • Microsoft Outlook 98 Contacts or Personal Address Book in either Corporate Workgroup (CW) or Internet Mode Only (IMO).
  • Microsoft Outlook 2000 Contacts or Personal Address Book in either Corporate Workgroup (CW) or Internet Mode Only (IMO).
  • Microsoft Outlook Express Address Book can be used if there is an IMO installation of Outlook 98 or Outlook 2000 on the computer, and the Address Book is shared.

  • Microsoft Schedule+ 7.0 Contact List.
  • Microsoft Exchange Server Address Book (PAB file).
  • Windows Address Book (WAB) can be used as a data source for a mail merge if the following conditions are true:

    • Word 2000 is installed as part of the Microsoft Works Suite 2000 or Works Suite 2001.

      -and-
    • The Word in Works add-in is installed.

    IMPORTANT NOTE: The Windows Address Book (Wab.exe) that is installed with the Works Suite is not compatible and does not work with the Insert Address button in the Envelopes and Labels dialog box (on the Tools menu, click Envelopes and Labels) in Microsoft Word 2000.For additional information about this problem, click the article number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
