SYMPTOMS

When you try to drag or copy and paste text and picture objects into one of the Microsoft Works programs that are listed in the "Applies to" section, you may experience one of the following symptoms:

  • When you drag text and picture objects from an HTML document into Microsoft Works Portfolio, and then you try to print the result or send the result to a blank document, a blank page is printed. Or, nothing is transferred from Works Portfolio to the blank Works Word Processor document. Additionally, you may receive the following error message:

There is not enough memory to open file "disk:\path\file.tmp." Close your document, close other programs, and then try again.

  • When you drag text and picture objects from an HTML document into Works Word Processor, nothing is transferred to Works Word Processor. Additionally, you do not receive an error message.
  • When you try to copy and paste the same text and picture objects from Works Portfolio into Works Word Processor, the document is not pasted into Works Word Processor. Additionally, you may receive the following error message:

The information you copied exceeds the size limit for pasting into the Word Processor. Try reducing the size of your selection, and then copy and paste again.

  • When you copy and paste text from Windows Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 to Works Word Processor, the text is not pasted. Additionally, you receive the following error message:

The information you copied exceeds the size limit for pasting into the Word Processor. Try reducing the size of your selection, and then copy and paste again.

CAUSE

These problems may occur if the following conditions are true:

  • An HTML document stores Rich Text Format (RTF) images in table cells to keep the spacing correct, and all Works Word Processor documents are automatically converted to RTF files. This conversion process can create many table cells. This may require lots of time to transfer into a Works Word Processor document. To protect your computer, the Works Word Processor automatically stops the data transfer after a specified time period.
  • You are using Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 as the Web browser.
